JULY FISHING REPORT 2006

Fishing the last month has been the best that I have seen in years. There have been great catches of yellowfin in last six weeks. We have been coming home with fish every trip. The average fish being 25kg to 35kg puts up a good fight for those guys who never caught a fish before.

The Makos have also showed up in the last month. We have managed to get a few big ones. The biggest one being 206kg on 15kg line congratulations to myself (I got to catch something too). The average Mako is around the 90kg to 130kg at moment.

The reef has also been producing good quality fish as usual. The main species have been Flathead, Morwong, Leather Jackets and Trevally. Though the snapper have slowed down a little I believe they will be back very soon.

Just like to say congratulations to the guys from Cold Play who also managed to get out amongst the yellowfin. They managed to get seven fish for the day.

Till next time tight lines and good luck

June fishing report 2006

The YELLOW FIN are here so come on lets go out there and catch them.

At last the fin are there have been some great catches with some fish reaching the 45 to 55kg mark. The weather has got us the last few weeks, though the days that we have managed to get out we have scored some good fish. The best we have had so far has been 7 in one day and few that got away. The best we have boated so far has been 43kg a good fish caught on 15kg line class.

The snapper are still around in big numbers averaging between the kilo to three kilo mark still. Out wider on the 12 mile the Leather Jackets are still around the biggest being 85cm, if you can get past the jackets there some big Pinkies there as well as the odd Kingfish.

With the weather setteling down now we will be able to get out there and get amongst them hope to see you all out there good luck.

Till then tight lines and good luck.Regards,

George Aslanian

May fishing report 2006

Well what can I say it was a great season with lots of fish caught lets start with our reef fishing trips.

The season so far has produced more fish than I have ever seen we have been coming home with average catch 35 fish ranging from big snapper, flathead, trevally and mowies. The snapper have shown up in big numbers averaging between the kilo to three kilo mark. Out wider on the 12 mile the Leather Jackets are still around the biggest being 85cm, if you can get past the jackets there some big Pinkies there as well as the odd Kingfish.

Well the Dollies have now gone, though the season was very successful the catch of 40 fish per trip was no problem at all. The size through out the season was 4kg, the biggest one for the season going 21kg a great catch on 6kg line.

The warmer currents have now moved on with the water temperature around the low 20s the yellowfin are staring to show up. We saw a big school of tuna working in around the 65fm line last Saturday. The boats a little bit further south have reported catches of tuna up to 60kg each. It will be good to see how we go this weekend hopefully we will get amongst them.

Till then tight lines and good luck.

Fishing Report 13 December 2005

Well where do I start??? Fishing the last six days have proven how good fishing can be and also how cruel it can really get. With three game fishing charters and four reef fishing trips I saw both sides of fishing.

Lets start off with reef fishing. The usual fish being caught like Flathead, Snapper, Trevally and some good size Pig fish. Though the fish of the day had to go to a 2.3kg Morwong that would be the biggest I have seen in years.

Congratulations to Jim Stevis and his Crew for their third successful fishing trip. They came back with seventeen Yellowfin tuna with the biggest being 12 kilos… this gives them a 100% record with them having captured and tagged 28 Yellowfin in the three charters booked this season… good on you boys!

There have been sightings of Marlin in the last week, with one boat capturing one around 80kg… it’s such a shame it didn’t get to swim away, though its good to see them slowly making their way down.

Till then tight lines and good luck!

Fishing Report 05 December 2005

It has been early starts and late finishes for us for the last month. The fishing has never been better with our reef fishing charters producing good quality fish. We have had good catches of Flathead, Morwong, Trevally and Snapper up to 3kg.

Game fishing charters have been a great success for the past month with yellow fin tuna being the main catch. These fish are one of the toughest fish to fight around, with even the smaller 10kg ones giving you a run for your money.

Congratulations to Jim Stevis and his Crew with another successful fishing trip. They came back with seven Yellowfin tuna with the biggest being 15kg kilo… a little smaller then their last trip with the smallest being 45kg.

However, the time has now come for us to get those 6kg outfits out again… yes the Dolphinfish are almost here. With reports of this species being caught up off Coffs Harbour, they should be here within the next few weeks.

Till then tight lines and good luck!

FISHING REPORT 15 January 2005

Well another month has gone past and a lot of fish have been caught.Lets start with the reef fishing there have been good catches of Mawong, Snapper, Trevalley and Flathead. We have been fishing depths of 40 to 70 meters up around the Whale and Long reef with pilchards and squid being the top baits. The game fishing has also kicked off to a great start tagging 6 Marlin in 7 trips in the past three weeks. The fish have been between 60kg to 120kg. The Dolfinfish have not showed up as yet though they are not too far away it’s only a matter of days before they show up. Instead we have been chasing Kingfish off the of rats around though using big baits have always managed to find the bigger fish.Lets hope January will show us excellent fishing till then tight lines.

FISHING REPORT 23rd November 2004
Both soft plastics and bait have been working very well fishing mainly in the 50 to 70 meter mark using a two hook rig with 4/0 hooks as for weight that’s up to you to decide on the day taking the wind and current into account.
The yellow fin have made a good show in the last month with almost every trip being a success. These fish have been from 10kg to 40kg in size with most fish being taken on the troll bibles minos being to gun lure. Most of the fish we caught have been from the 90fm mark the 300fm line.
With the summer months on our hands now we are looking forward to a great Sport and Game fishing season till next time tight lines.

FISHING REPORT 20th JULY 2004

Sunday produced a good catch for our crew, what we missed Saturday we picked up on Sunday with good catches of Snapper and Morwong dominating the fishing, The Flathead also put in an appearance as we expected they would, bagging over 10 good size lizards. We also came across a few nice Leather Jackets later in the day.

until next time

FISHING REPORT 19th JULY 2004

The cold weather hasn't scared all the fish away with both days on the weekend producing a bag full of fish. Saturday went well, although the weather wasn't that kind with the wind giving us a battering, we still managed to pull in a bevy of good size Flathead. We also came across some red spot whiting. The Snapper were a bit shy with only one caught (not a keeper) however we managed to get on to some morwong later on in the day as well as some feisty Flying Gernards, and a couple of nice Leather Jackets.

The trevally and Sweep are out there as well we managed to pull in a few here and there but they were tending to be a bit shy. Even though the weather is cold it doesn't seemed to have effected the fishing all that much as Sundays report will show. Have a look at some pics from Saturday and until next time
