Keep reading for the top 5 benefits of joining a Wahoo chartered fishing tour…

Expert Fishing Guides and Crew

One of the best reasons for booking a private charter is that they come with highly skilled and experienced captains and crew members.

Getting personal guidance from experienced local fishermen and women increases your chances of having a successful and informative trip.

George Aslanian – our owner and operator – has been fishing for over 30 years. His fishing charter team is skilled and accredited, and all have valid fishing licences.

Our skippers and crew-mates have extensive knowledge about the best fishing spots and times. They know about the various types of fish you can expect to catch and the best tools and methods to use to be successful. They are also all well-versed in emergency and safety protocols, so you know you’re in safe hands out on the water.

High-Quality Vessels & Equipment

The crew is important, but the right fishing boat and gear are also crucial for a chartered trip.

A well-maintained and designed boat has the power to transform your day from good to great. An overcrowded boat or one without mod cons would make spending hours out on the water uncomfortable.

Our fleet of charter fishing vessels is tech and we have a licence to carry up to 25 passengers. Many of our boats have modern bathrooms, air-con, radios, and TVs, and can reach speeds of up to 38 knots.

Fishing charter boats have all essential tools onboard, from fishing rods and reels to tackle and bait, so there’s no need to spend your own money on gear.

Some other things we provide include:

  • Safety gear – life jackets, rafts and emergency signalling devices like flares.
  • Personal protective equipment – boots/gumboots, waders, aprons, eyewear, gloves and beanies
  • Cold storage – coolers/freezers for storing fish and bait

Access to the Best Fishing Spots in Sydney

Being on a chartered fishing trip gives you access to areas you may never have found or known about on your own.

You can visit various locations, from busy city waterways to remote spots, and no matter how many fishing adventures you go on, you’ll never see the same things twice!

Having Wahoo based on Australia’s East Coast is another big advantage for budding fishermen and women. Sydney Harbour in New South Wales has an abundance of fish. Therefore, you will always be able to find a good spot to drop anchor.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to catch big fish. Popular places include Fairlight Points, Bradley’s Head, Chowder Bay, Middle Harbour, Long Reef Beach, Bondi, Brooklyn, 12 Mile Reef, Cooks River, Bobbin Head, Port Hacking and George’s River.

A Wide Variety of Fish

Catching fish is easy when you’re on a Sydney fishing tour, as it’s home to some of the world’s biggest fish.

Depending on the time of year you go out, you can expect to see many different port and saltwater fish, including:

  • Kingfish
  • Flathead
  • Bream
  • Trevally
  • Salmon
  • Marlin
  • Yellowfin tuna
  • Bluefin tuna
  • Albacore
  • Snapper
  • Amberjack
  • Leatherjacket
  • Jewfish
  • Morwong
  • Mahi Mahi

When you catch a fish, you have three options. The first option is to release it if you don’t want to keep or eat it. The second option is to release it if it’s protected or too small/young to be legally caught. The third option is to keep it if it meets the required weight and size.

Different Types of Fishing Charters

Last but not least are the types of fishing charters you can embark on. Here at Wahoo, we can customise and cater our trips for all ages, abilities and occasions.

Options include deep sea excursions for the experienced and adventurous or more relaxed boat outings for the casual angler. All you have to do is tell us how you’d like to spend the day and what you’d like to catch, and we’ll organise the rest!

We have many different tours available. These include reef fishing, game fishing, deep water jig fishing, sport fishing, corporate fishing charters, and bucks party fishing trips.

We went out on a charter today and whilst the weather was against us, Sev and Josh did everything they could to get us on to the fish. I highly recommend George and his team for your next fishing charter. We will be back.
